CREATIVE Writing Contest Rules

1. THEME:

All entries must reflect an aspect of BODY POSITIVE living.

Positive and Inspirational content is encouraged.

2. GUIDELINES:

All writing must be titled and previously unpublished.

Submissions must be in the form of poetry OR literary nonfiction OR fiction.

•  Literary Nonfiction or Fiction should be between 1,000 and 2,000 words. Fiction that exceeds 1,000 to 2,000 words will not be considered by the judges. Writing is to be written in English.
• Poems are not to exceed 30 lines in length, including the title. Poems exceeding 30 lines will not be considered by the judges. Poetry is to be written in English.

There is no fee to enter this contest.

Literary nonfiction includes, but is not limited to, works of personal or journalistic essays, memoirs, commentary, both social and political criticism, history, and biography.
To ensure a blind adjudication process, please omit any personal identifying information, i.e. name and contact details, from all writing submissions.
Be sure to include contact information with writing submission (see #4)

3. Writing TOPICS:

All writing should reflect an aspect of living a PLUS SIZE life. The intention is for the work to be inspirational but all submissions will be considered.

4. Entry identification:

Your name, email address, home city and telephone number must be submitted with your poem.

5. Deadline:

Contest opens on April 15, 2015 and submissions must be received by Midnight, July 1, 2015.

6. Fees:

There are no entry fees, no subsidy payments, and no purchases of any kind required to enter and win the Writing contest.

7. Eligibility:

The contest is open to women entrants only.

8. Edits:

www.bigbeautifulwellness.com reserves the right to edit your writing and remove any editing errors unless they are part of the nature of the narrative

9. Prizes:

Cash prizes will be given to the First, Second, and Third place winners.

These winners are decided at the discretion of the judge(s). Decision of the judge(s) is final.

10. Rights:

OWNERSHIP AND USE OF WINNING POEMS:

All entrants retain the copyright rights that they have in the poems they submit, but all entrants, by participating in this Contest and submitting poems, grant Big Beautiful Wellness™ and any of Big Beautiful Wellness™ successors and assigns the perpetual and irrevocable right, license, and ability to use and publish all submitted poems (in the format submitted or in an altered format and in complete form or in excerpted form) on Big Beautiful Wellness™ websites, on other websites, and in other media, for any purpose. Entrants’ opportunity to submit their poems and participate in this Contest constitutes full consideration for the foregoing grant. The foregoing grant requires no further consideration and is not dependent on entrants’ winning any prizes. Big Beautiful Wellness™ can publish or decline to publish, or use or decline to use, any submitted poems in Big Beautiful Wellness™ sole discretion.

11. General Conditions:

All online submissions become the sole property of Big Beautiful Wellness™ and will not be acknowledged or returned. All entries and submissions are subject to verification. Big Beautiful Wellness™ assumes no responsibility for entries or submissions that are lost, late, misdirected, stolen, illegible, undelivered, garbled, damaged, mutilated, incomplete, reproduced mechanically, forged, falsified, altered, or tampered with (and any such entries or submissions are ineligible), or for any computer, online, telephone, or technical malfunctions that may occur. Big Beautiful Wellness™ assumes no responsibility for any technical problems in connection with the transmission or receipt of entries, including faulty electronic data transmission, traffic congestion on the Internet or on websites, hardware or software error, equipment failure or malfunction, or other online communications problems.
This Contest is subject to all applicable laws and regulations, but is governed by the substantive law of the Province of Ontario. Void wherever prohibited or restricted by law.
